Jenny Schleich is the voice of The Crux. She is a former home décor magazine editor and photo journalist who has decided to embrace a more holistic life without the stress of constant editorial deadlines. She and her fiancé recently purchased Spurce Lawn — a farm in rural Ontario, Canada where they are seeking a sustainable lifestyle that’s still remarkably pretty and well designed. Interior design isn’t just about how your house look, but how your house works for your family. As Spruce Lawn undergoes its restoration, the topics discussed at The Crux will evolve as well. Jenn is also a literary fanatic, a mother, has a weakness for toss cushions and can never resist a good paint refresh.
Welcome to The Crux, a design blog focused on exploring the hows and whys of trends and motifs in interior design. The crux at where aesthetic and function meet is design, and so function and practicality is of huge importance to us at The Crux.
The Crux has sought to share interesting design features with its readers through photo-editorial collaborations with interior design firms and home owners. Additionally, The Crux often explores topics that are relevant to contemporary society, seeking to streamline spaces for both function and style. Our editor, who enjoys more than a little DIY, also likes to toss the occasional fun (or outlandish) project into the mix, and is often aided by her wild preschoolers.
The Crux often shares product shots from home décor stores, because these images speak to the articles. The Crux links back to these businesses to credit them for their photography, and not as a form of paid promotion. However, that isn’t to say that affiliate links or advertisements don’t/won’t appear on this site. The Crux sometimes uses advertising to help cover the costs of operating a blog.
